Update for October 17
17 October 2025
The City of Kamloops is advising properties of upcoming concrete pour work beginning on October, 25, 2025.
This work will be highly impactful to all properties along Tranquille Road from Crestline Street to Downie Street, and will include impacts to street parking and loss of driveway access by vehicle. Access on foot will be maintained.
To accommodate this portion of work, crews will be working 7 days a week.
EVENTS
- October 25-27: PREPARATION
- Crews will prepare the site by installing stringline guides along Tranquille Road at the location of the new curb. The stringline will be installed on both sides of the road, and cones will be placed on either side of the driveways to allow for driveway access during the prep work.
- Contractors will be knocking on doors on the evening of October 27 to remind residents to relocate vehicles from their driveway prior to 7:00 am on October 28 to prevent any vehicles from being locked in while concrete is poured and cured.
- October 28-29: CONCRETE CURB POURING WORK OCCURS
- The crew will begin pouring concrete on the north side of Tranquille Road at Crestline Street and move eastward to Downie Street. Crews will then switch to the south side of Tranquille Road and move westward from Downie Street to Crestline Street.
- Vehicles will NOT be permitted to move in or out of driveways, as concrete will be poured from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Any cars in driveways after 7:00 am on either day will be shut in and not permitted to leave until the pouring is completed and concrete has cured.
- During the daytime, vehicles must park on side streets or at Crestline Community Garden (795 Crestline Street) while concrete pouring takes place. Vehicles parked on Tranquille Road during concrete pouring hours on October 28 and 29 (7:00 am to 6:00 pm) will be towed.
- In the evening, driveways will remain inaccessible. Vehicles may park on the south side of Tranquille Road overnight from 6:00 pm to 7:00 am. Vehicles must NOT drive or park on any new driveway letdowns, curbs, and poured concrete under any circumstance. Vehicles parked overnight on the south side of Tranquille Road must be moved before 7:00 am the next morning or they will be towed.
- October 30-November 5: CONCRETE CURING
- The concrete pouring will be complete as of October 30, but driveways will remain inaccessible until November 5.
- Vehicles may continue to park on the south side of Tranquille Road (day and night). Vehicles must NOT drive or park over any new driveway letdowns, curbs, and poured concrete under any circumstance.
- The concrete requires significant time to cure and driving over it will result damage in to the curb. Any damaged curb will need to be removed, and the driveway will need to be closed for an additional 10-12 days while new curbs are poured.
- November 6-8: PAVING
- Paving will occur during this time and vehicles MUST return to their driveways. Street parking is no longer permitted during this work.
- Depending on the location of the paving machine, delays accessing driveways may be 30 minutes to 1 hour to allow the asphalt to set.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
During the curb pouring work, Tranquille Road from Crestline Street to Downie Street will only be accessible via Crestline Street from October 25 to November 8. There will be a temporary dead end at Downie Street.
Emergency vehicles7 will have priority access within the corridor.
SOLID WASTE COLLECTION
Please roll bins up to the curb (do not roll bin over the curb onto the street). The construction crew will ensure residents’ solid waste is collected.
Note: collection may occur later in the day on pickup days during this time. Please ensure your bins are out by 7:00 am on collection day.
UPCOMING WORK
As construction progresses in your area, please note the following upcoming activities and updates:
- Sidewalks: Sidewalk pouring on the north side of Tranquille Road will likely occur this fall, in sections, as weather permits. No access impacts are expected during this work.
- Multi-Use Pathway: The multi-use pathway is scheduled for paving in 2026.
As we look ahead to the end of construction season, work on this project will wind down just west of Downie Street in November (weather dependent). Crews will complete as much as they can this year and will return in the spring to recommence the work.
