Upcoming 4th Avenue Sewer Upgrades Will Support Growth and New Arts Centre

27 June 2025

Work on 4th Avenue to upgrade the sanitary sewer main is set to begin in early July, supporting future development in the downtown core.

This important infrastructure project will begin on July 7, 2025, and is expected to be completed in the fall 2025. The upgrades will be completed in phases and are intended to increase sewer capacity to support future growth, including utility servicing for the Kamloops Centre for the Arts.

Residents, businesses, and commuters should expect temporary changes to traffic flow, parking availability, and alley access as crews progress block by block, moving southbound from Lansdowne Street to Battle Street.

Transit along 4th Avenue within the construction zone will be detoured to 6th Avenue. To plan your route, visit BCTransit.com/Kamloops.

Residents and businesses should expect the following during construction:

  • Vibration and Dust: Heavy equipment will be in operation, and dust control measures will be in place. Please secure fragile items to protect against vibration-related damage.
  • Noise: Noise levels will be elevated during active construction hours.
  • Truck Traffic: Truck and equipment movement will be increased in and around the work zone.

The City will provide regular updates and notify affected properties ahead of each construction phase. For more information and ongoing project updates, visit LetsTalk.Kamloops.ca/4thAveSewer.
