Meet the Team Behind the Kamloops Arena Multiplex

10 March 2026

The Kamloops Arena Multiplex, set for construction on City-owned land at 2070 Hillside Drive, is being developed using an integrated project delivery model similar to the Kamloops Centre for the Arts.

This collaborative approach brings together all project partners early to plan, design, and construct a facility that meets community needs, while staying within clearly defined conditions of satisfaction.

The purpose-built project delivery team consists of an architect, general contractor, key engineers, subcontractors, and City staff who have been working to collectively for months to validate a work plan and associated budget, with the goal to deliver a one-of-a-kind sport and recreation facility unlike any other in western Canada.

This spring, the project team will deliver a validation report that will provide the City and electorate with a thorough understanding of the investment required to build the facility. The project will then proceed into detailed design and implementation, during which time subsequent subcontractor opportunities will be made available.

Looking further ahead, site earthworks are set to begin later this year, with construction slated for 2027. The facility is expected to open its doors in 2029, at which point construction could begin on the newly announced Curling and Racquet Sports Facility in the 700 block of Victoria Street.

As collaboration is a cornerstone of this project, engagement with residents, user groups, and key partners has been ongoing throughout the process to ensure the community’s priorities are reflected in the design and use of the Arena Multiplex.

As a result of recent engagement, the City will be addressing concerns from area residents regarding increased traffic associated with the project and other nearby development, resulting in improvements along the Hillside Drive corridor to improve safety and accommodate future traffic demands.
