After seven months of highly impactful work along Lansdowne Street, crews will start the fifth and final stage of the City Centre Sanitary Upgrades Project on Monday, October 21, 2024. The project is expected to be completed on Friday, November 15.

Stage five will involve closing Lansdowne Street from 6th Avenue to 8th Avenue. Motorists are encouraged to detour via Victoria Street.

Local traffic only access, including anyone wishing to attend a business within the construction area, will be permitted for specific businesses within the 600–800 blocks of Lansdowne Street.

The Lansdowne Transit Exchange will be relocated to St. Paul Street between the 400 and 600 blocks during stage five. Traffic will be permitted through the corridor, but on-street parking will not be available in bus zones.

“We would like to thank the travelling public and all businesses in the area for their patience during this project,” said Matt Kachel, the City’s Infrastructure Delivery Divisional Manager. “This project has been about growth and addresses a key infrastructure need in the area. The purpose has always been to keep pace with the growth of downtown and the city's eastern sector, which will lead to increased economic growth in those areas.”

The City wants to remind trucking groups that westbound heavy trucks are prohibited within the City Centre Sanitary Upgrades Project construction work zone. For details on alternate truck routes, visit Kamloops.ca/TruckRoute.
