Update for March 20

20 March 2026

The City of Kamloops would like to inform impacted businesses, residents, and commuters or upcoming work related to both the 4th Avenue Sewer Upgrades Project and the Kamloops Centre for the Arts Project.

Upcoming Timeline
  • March 23: Paving on 4th Avenue from Seymour Street to St. Paul Street.
  • March 24-25: Peparation for utility work along 4th Avenue, and line painting on 4th Avenue from Seymour Street to Battle Street.
  • March 26: Due to the relocation of traffic control boxes for the Centre for the Arts project, the traffic lights at both 4th Avenue and Victoria and 4th Avenue and Seymour Street will see partial power interruptions.
    • To aid with the logistics of this work, crews will enact a closure of 4th Avenue from Victoria Street to Seymour Street (single lane northbound movement from Seymour Street to Victoria Street will be maintained) for approximately 12 hours beginning at 9:00 am. The lights at 4th Avenue and Victoria Street will continue to run on back-up power, with traffic control personnel on standby should the lights go dark.
    • During this time, southbound movement on this block of 4th Avenue will not be permitted, and 4th Avenue from Seymour Street to St. Paul Street will remain closed to motorists. Traffic control personnel will be onsite to assist motorists and pedestrians navigate the area.
  • March 27: BC Hydro cleanup along 4th Avenue. By end-of-day, 4th Avenue from Victoria Street to St. Paul Street will re-open to traffic.

All timelines are subject to change and are weather dependent. Road closures will be in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, unless otherwise stated.

Business/Resident Impacts

Crews are committed to working with area businesses and residents to mitigate impacts as much as possible. Scheduled deliveries and other business operations will be accommodated if advanced notification is provided.
