Community Request: Downtown Public Realm Improvement Fund (Supplemental 25.09)

The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association is requesting the creation of a Public Realm Improvement Fund to enhance the Downtown area of Kamloops. The Fund is designed to enhance the daily experiences of those living and working Downtown and to attract visitors, bolster economic activity, and promote the area's vitality. Potential projects to be funded include the addition of urban furniture, greenery, decorative lighting, trash receptacles, or larger seasonal events or art installations. The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association has presented a model for both overseeing fund allocation and providing maintenance of the funded enhancements.

COST: $1,250,000 from 2025–2029 ($250,000 annually).

This proposal would be funded through the Gaming Reserve. There would be no impact on taxation in 2025.
