2024 Tax Rates

6 May 2024

Based on the provisional budget approved by Council on February 20, 2024, and on the supplemental budget items recommended by the Committee of the Whole on March 5, 2024, the property tax requirement for 2024 is $149.1 million (a 9.55% increase over 2023, plus estimated growth). The City uses assessed property values from BC Assessment in combination with the Council-approved property tax requirement to calculate the mill rate, which allows the City to collect the required amount of property tax to meet budget requirements.

At a regular Council meeting on April 23, Council authorized Tax Rates Bylaw No. 22-1-120 to be introduced and read a first, second, and third time. The bylaw will be up for adoption on May 14, and property tax notices are set to be issued to residents before the end of May.

Residents keen to preview the cost of their upcoming tax bill are welcome to use the City's Property Tax Estimator, which has been updated with 2024 data here on Kamloops.ca. Please note that the calculation is an estimation only.

Property taxes and Home Owner Grant applications will be due July 2 this year.
