The City of Kamloops and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) have entered into a five-year service agreement to employ Community Services Officers at the North Kamloops Library and the downtown TNRD Civic Building to provide security services. This new agreement, which spans from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2029, builds on the success of a pilot project that began in September 2022.

Under the new agreement, Community Services Officers will continue providing security services at the North Kamloops Library while extending their support to the TNRD Civic Building. This expanded mandate has multiple benefits, including a stronger presence of Community Services Officers in the downtown core. The longer timeframe of the agreement also allows for better planning and investment in security measures.
