North Shore Neighbourhood Plan Adopted by Council

26 September 2022

September 27, 2022 - Today, the North Shore Neighbourhood Plan was adopted unanimously by Council.

The North Shore Neighbourhood Plan is an update to the 2008 plan of the same name and provides a framework to guide planning and land use management for the North Shore over a 20-year time frame.

The plan includes a set of land use policies; a series of “big moves” that represents design concepts and ideas around key redevelopment areas, new housing opportunities, and catalyst projects; and a list of discrete action items to help realize the plan’s vision.

The new plan is the result of a comprehensive engagement process that began in 2020 and included input from residents, stakeholders, Tk’emlúps te Secwe̓pemc, Council, an advisory group, and City staff. The City would like to thank everyone who took the time to participate in the engagement process and provide feedback, which helped shape the plan’s development.

What’s Next?

Staff will begin implementing the plan’s action items starting with amendments to the Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw. These amendments will allow for new infill housing opportunities to support revitalization, affordability, and a greater diversity of housing choice on the North Shore (and the broader community).
