City of Kamloops Invites the Community to the North Shore Design Charrette

5 November 2020

November 6, 2020 - As part of the North Shore Neighbourhood Plan update, the City is inviting the public to participate in an upcoming design charrette (see details below).

In September and October, members of the community shared their vision and ideas for the North Shore via public open houses, pop-up booths, and stakeholder meetings and via online engagement as the City kicked off the North Shore Neighbourhood Plan review and update process.

Feedback received will be used to help draft the vision, goals, and key principles that will provide direction for the policies, actions, and development guidelines in the updated plan. A summary report of the feedback received can be found here.

City staff also conducted youth engagement with NorKam Senior Secondary students, who created photo journals of places around the North Shore that resonate or have value for them. The results of this project can be viewed on an interactive map here.

Design Charrette
The City will be holding a design charrette, which will consist of stakeholder meetings and two public events hosted by City staff and a design team. Key outcomes of the charrette will include ideas and design concepts for the Tranquille Market Corridor and North Shore Town Centre as well as actions that could be taken to further revitalize these areas. The process will draw from public and stakeholder input received during engagement activities so far.
