The City of Kamloops has contracted Extreme Excavating Ltd. and Chandos Construction to install a new reservoir and booster station within Greenstone Park. This critical water infrastructure upgrade will require the full closure of the park between mid-February and winter 2024.

Restoration of the park following the infrastructure work includes a rebuild of the irrigation system, new turf, and maintaining the topography for sledding and tobogganing. This work will begin the week of March 13, 2023, and is anticipated to be complete by early 2024.

Resident Impacts

Throughout the construction period, vibratory compaction equipment may be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration. This project will require drilling and blasting of bedrock located within the park, performed by a drilling contractor.

There will be significant noise and disruption during construction hours, which are anticipated to be 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekend work between 7:00 am and 4:30 pm.

The park will be closed for the entirety of the project.
