Update for October 3

3 October 2025

The Overlanders Bridge Maintenance Project is ahead of schedule and is anticipated for completion by October 16 (weather dependent).

Even better news: all four lanes of the bridge will re-open tomorrow (Saturday, October 4)!

Important milestones ahead:

  • October 8–15 (weather permitting): The Mission Flats/Summit Drive off-ramp will be closed for asphalt and membrane repairs. Detours will be in place. During this period, three lanes of traffic will be open (two northbound lanes and one southbound lane). The southbound western lane/sidewalk will be closed.
  • October 16: Full project completion, with all lanes open and traffic movements restored.
  • Line painting to follow

To expedite this final phase, crews will be adjusting their shifts to work 24 hours a day, including the Thanksgiving holiday. As this section does not require steel joint removals or concrete curing, the schedule has allowed for adjustment and a reduction of the off-ramp closure to approximately 5–6 active work shifts.

During this time, heavy trucks are asked to avoid the Overlanders Bridge and detour via Highway 1 and 5.

We recognize the impact this project has had on residents and commuters, and we thank the community for their patience. The City, together with River Valley Construction Services Ltd., is working diligently to deliver this critical project ahead of schedule in an effort to return the bridge to regular traffic patterns.
