Update for May 22

May 22, 2026

The City of Kamloops is advising properties of impactful work beginning the week of May 26 for a duration of several weeks (weather dependent) between Evergreen Place and east of Southill Street.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Effective Tuesday, May 26, asphalt removals will begin from Evergreen Street to Southill Street, followed by additional construction activities including:

  • Hydrovac work and utility locates
  • Gravel removal
  • Subgrade preparation and road excavation/cutting
  • Delivery and placement of pipe and construction materials

Motorists, pedestrians, residents, and businesses are asked to use caution in the area and follow all traffic control signage and directions from crews on site.

Please be aware that there are multiple obstacles within the construction work zone including, but not limited to heavy equipment, raised vertical pipes, exposed utility access points, poles, dirt, and gravel piles. Heavy equipment has the right-of-way within active construction zones. Please drive with caution and remain in the centre of the navigable road when possible.

IMPORTANT: the construction zone is open to local traffic only, and the posted 30 km/h speed limit is being enforced. Kamloops RCMP are actively monitoring the area and will continue issuing tickets to non-compliant drivers. Concerns related to speeding, aggressive driving, or road rage should be reported directly to RCMP by calling the North Shore Community Policing Office at 250-376-5099 or by reporting online at Kamloops.ca/RCMP.

RESIDENT/BUSINESS IMPACTS

During this stage, access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout construction; however, temporary disruptions, traffic delays, noise, dust, and changing road conditions can be expected.

Solid waste collection on side streets will not be impacted during this work.

Disruptions in water service may occur. Impacted properties will be notified.

Canada Post mail delivery: Canada Post may opt to pause door-to-door mail service at times within the work zone. This could occur without formal notice. Please contact Canada Post directly at 1-866-607-6301 should you have questions or concerns regarding mail service.

General deliveries: As access to the area may become more restricted at times, residents are encouraged to coordinate directly with delivery providers in advance and have drivers check in with on-site traffic control personnel for guidance on how to safely enter the construction zone to avoid undelivered orders.
