Update for January 16

16 January 2026

The City of Kamloops is advising properties of the recommencement of Tranquille Phase 3 work beginning on February 2, 2026 (weather dependent). Crews will return to the area of Downie Street to begin removal of asphalt, pre-locates, gravel stripping, and other works.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Effective Monday, February 2, until late March, work will occur from Crestline to Windbreak. The construction zone will revert back to local traffic only and 30 km/h speed limits within the corridor.

Construction trucks and equipment will be active, as well as equipment from third-party companies.

Please drive with caution in the construction zone and obey the posted speed limit and traffic control personnel. Kamloops RCMP are actively monitoring this site and will continue to ticket non-compliant drivers.

Transit will also follow various detour routes during the stages of construction. To plan your route, visit BCTransit.com/Kamloops.

RESIDENT IMPACTS

Driveways will be regraded and restored for a short distance into private property to align with the new multi-use pathway or sidewalk elevation. While every effort will be made to keep grade changes within reasonable limits, some driveways may become steeper and could require retaining walls along the sides.

Driveway access widths will be standardized and limited through the use of curb letdowns. In areas where there is a significant elevation difference between the new multi-use pathway or sidewalk and existing ground, boulevard regrading may extend slightly onto private property.

Where retaining walls are required within City property, temporary access to adjacent private property may be needed to complete construction.

Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with their property lines to understand how they may be affected. Property information is available at Kamloops.ca/CityMap.

Canada Post mail delivery: Canada Post may opt to pause door-to-door mail service at times within the work zone. This could occur without formal notice. Please contact Canada Post directly at 1-866-607-6301 should you have questions or concerns regarding mail service.
