Update for April 7

7 April 2026

The City of Kamloops is advising properties of the start of STAGE 2 beginning this week until approximately late May, resulting in an update to the small car detour route and a change to the transit detour route.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Effective Wednesday, April 8, until late May, the Tranquille Phase 3 work zone will expand to span from Crestline Street to Southill Street. During this stage, traffic will detour to Young Avenue via Southill/Sunnycrest.

As a reminder, the construction zone is open to local traffic only and the 30 km/h speed limit is being enforced.

Kamloops RCMP are actively monitoring this site and will continue to ticket non-compliant drivers. Driver behaviour like speeding and road rage are police matters and should be taken directly to RCMP. Please call the North Shore Community Policing Office at 250-376-5099 or report a crime online by visiting Kamloops.ca/RCMP.

Please be aware that there are multiple obstacles within the construction work zone including, but not limited to heavy equipment, raised vertical pipes, exposed manholes, poles, dirt, and gravel piles. Please drive with caution and remain in the centre of the navigable road when possible.

TRANSIT IMPACTS

The transit detour route will follow Young Avenue via Southill/Sunnycrest when travelling westbound, and Greenfield Avenue via Sunnycrest/Southill when travelling eastbound. To plan your route, visit BCTransit.com/Kamloops.

RESIDENT IMPACTS

During this stage, minor disruptions in water service may occur as the mainline proceeds eastward. Impacted properties will be notified.

Canada Post mail delivery: Canada Post may opt to pause door-to-door mail service at times within the work zone. This could occur without formal notice. Please contact Canada Post directly at 1-866-607-6301 should you have questions or concerns regarding mail service.
