Residents Invited to Provide Feedback on Kamloops' Future Active Transportation Network

2 May 2025

An active transportation engagement session is being held this month as a way for residents to gain insight into the proposed updates to the active transportation portion of the Transportation Master Plan and provide feedback on connectivity, accessibility, safety, and any other related insights or comments.

Supported by the City’s Vision Zero strategy, the Active Transportation Plan is a high-level infrastructure network plan that supports and promotes traditional non-motorized forms of transportation, such as walking and cycling and other emerging micromobility technology (i.e. scooters).

Residents are invited to attend an engagement session on Tuesday, May 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, in the Kia Lounge at the Sandman Centre. The purpose of this engagement session is for residents to provide feedback on the active transportation portion of the Transportation Master Plan and learn about upcoming projects and other long-term projects planned for the community.

Neighbourhood maps highlighting proposed project corridors will be available for review, and residents will be asked to provide input and ask questions of the City’s Transportation team.

For those who can’t attend the in-person session, an online opportunity to provide feedback will be open on the project page from May 12 to May 26, 2025.

Once approved by Council, the Active Transportation Plan will form a basis for undertaking priority projects identified in the next few years and suitable long-term active transportation projects in the coming decades while outlining a planning framework that allows for periodic updates.

Cycling to the event?

Take advantage of the Kamloops Bike Valet, a free coat-check-style bike parking service located on the Sandman Centre Plaza just outside the Kia Lounge. Park your bike, grab your claim pass, and leave your bike with the attendants. Following the event, bring back the claim pass and ride away with peace of mind, knowing your bike was stored safely for you!
