On April 13, 2026, the Capital Projects team and Finance team each presented an update to the Build Kamloops Council Select Committee.

The Committee was introduced to a phasing concept for the multiplex. This includes planning for the fourth rink to be constructed after 2030, with opportunities to thoughtfully incorporate select materials from Memorial Arena into its future design.

Memorial Arena holds deep significance for Veterans and the broader community. While its retirement is still anticipated around 2030, there is ample time ahead for continued discussion. The project team remains committed to meaningful engagement and respectful conversations about the future of Memorial Arena and how its legacy can be honoured.

The finance memo presented an update on the Arena Multiplex project. Updated cost estimates reflect improved project detail and financing, and evaluation of additional community amenities, including the regional library and a permanent mini‑rink. The City remains focused on delivering a high‑quality, multi‑use facility that supports recreation, culture, and long‑term community needs.
