The City is pleased to announce that, after a detailed procurement process earlier in 2026, which involved engagement with local pay-to-park users, the City has awarded a contract to Precise ParkLink Inc. to manage pay parking in Kamloops. The new contract will involve the replacement of current parking meters with updated models, new technology to manage off-street parking lots, and a new mobile app (Parkedin) providing convenient options for parking payment.
The transition to new meters and new technology will take place in May and June of 2026. More information on the equipment and features will be released in May.
On March 31, 2026, Committee of the Whole received a report on parking management and rates, which included a proposal to implement a phased parking management plan over the next five years. The Committee advised administration to prepare a bylaw updating parking fees and charges as outlined in the report. Those rate changes will be coming to Council in the spring of 2026. More engagement on parking in Kamloops can be expected as the parking management plan rolls out.
In January 2026, residents were invited to help select a new provider to supply, install, and maintain a modern pay parking system in our community. Participants were asked to test and provide feedback on two parking machine options that were made available by two shortlisted service provider applicants. The feedback gathered during this process was used to determine which provider would be awarded the contract.
Pay parking in Kamloops serves approximately 800 on-street single parking spaces downtown, pay-and-display machines in nine off-street parking lots, pay-by-space parking at the Tournament Capital Centre, and two City-owned parkades on Seymour Street and Lansdowne Street.
