  • Phase three: Mulberry Avenue/Wilson Street to Leigh Road

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

During the project, traffic along Clapperton Road, from Cedar Street to Leigh Road, will be reduced to local traffic only. Detours will be in effect.

Please watch for signage and obey all traffic control personnel and equipment when driving or walking near the project site.

RESIDENT AND BUSINESS IMPACTS

Throughout the project, vibratory compaction equipment may be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration.

There may be noise disruption due to equipment on site.

Every attempt will be made to minimize the impact on residents, motorists, and pedestrians during construction; however, travel delays are inevitable.

Pedestrian access will be limited.

HOURS OF WORK

Work will begin on April 1, with completion anticipated for the end of August 2024.

Construction is scheduled to occur Monday through Friday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm, with the possibility of some weekend work.

PROJECT UPDATE

The City of Kamloops is advising residents that crews will be temporarily vacating Parkview Drive by March 22, 2024. Crews will tentatively return to complete the upgrades in May 2024.

Before vacating the site, crews will perform general clean-up of equipment and materials.

Upon returning in May, crews will complete the following work:

  • Asphalt and boulevard restoration at the south end of Parkview Drive;
  • Driveway culverts and head wall installations along Parkview Drive;
  • Storm pipe installation at the north end of Parkview Drive; and
  • Installation of concrete reinforced barriers along Westsyde Road.

PROJECT SCOPE

The City of Kamloops will be completing drainage works along Parkview Drive. This work will begin in January 2024 and will include:

  • Drainage control measures along Westsyde Road (including additional catch basins and concrete barriers) to redirect storm runoff away from the Oak Dale Mobile Home Park.
  • Drainage improvements along Parkview Drive including storm piping extensions from drainage channels, additional catch basins, improved ditching and driveway crossing culverts, some driveway drainage curb, and new storm inlet structures.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Please watch for signage and obey all traffic control personnel and equipment when driving or walking near the project site. At times, traffic on Parkview Drive will be reduced to single lane.

RESIDENT IMPACTS

Throughout the project, vibratory compaction equipment may be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration.

There may be noise disruption due to equipment on site.

Every attempt will be made to minimize the impact on residents, motorists, and pedestrians during construction; however, travel delays are inevitable.

HOURS OF WORK

Hours of work are from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Thursday, with the possibility of weekend work.

PROJECT SCOPE

The City of Kamloops has contracted Chandos Construction to design and construct a new Mausoleum at Hillside Cemetery to meet the forecasted demand for additional crypts and niches. The project is ongoing and slated for completion in early 2024.

PROJECT UPDATE:

Abatement was successfully completed, but the deconstruction schedule will be delayed to early 2024.

Late March–September 2023

PROJECT SCOPE

The City of Kamloops has contracted Clearview Demolition Ltd. to tear down the former Northbridge Hotel at 377 Tranquille Road. We are advising residents, businesses and commuters that this work is scheduled to begin in late March and will encompass the following scope of work:

  • abatement; and
  • deconstruction.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Traffic detours may be in effect and transit may be impacted. Please obey all traffic control personnel and equipment when driving in the vicinity of the project.

RESIDENT AND BUSINESS IMPACTS

Fences are expected to go up around the property in late March. For the first four months all work will be contained on site. Security will remain on premises to ensure no one enters the building during the abatement process. This building contains hazardous materials, such as asbestos, and while this work poses no health risk to anyone outside the building, proper precautions need to be taken inside. The contractor will erect fences to delineate their work zone and is important that the public respects that boundary.

Throughout the construction period, vibratory compaction equipment may be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration. There may also be noise disruption due to equipment on site.

Garbage collection will not be affected

HOURS OF WORK

Work will begin late March, with completion anticipated for the end of September. Construction is scheduled to occur Monday through Saturday, 7:00 am–5:00 pm.
