Bebek Road Reconstruction- COMPLETE
This project is complete.
PROJECT SCOPE
The City of Kamloops will be conducting utility and road works as well as pedestrian upgrades on Bebek Road between the school entrance and Westsyde Road. We are advising residents in the area that this work is scheduled to begin June 13, weather depending, and will encompass the following scope of work:
- installation of new water services;
- installation of new water main;
- upgrades to drainage infrastructure
- installation of new sidewalk on north side;
- installation of full pedestrian signals at the Bebek Road and Westsyde Road intersection; and
- road reconstruction.
TRAFFIC & TRANSIT IMPACTS
Bebek Road will be closed between Westyde Road and the Westsyde Pool entrance to all traffic other than local Bebek Road residents and their visitors. Access to the school and the pool will be maintained via detour from Puhallo Drive to Pine Springs Road to Bebek Road. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Driveway access to residents will be temporarily restricted at times during construction. Residents are advised that off-street parking may not be accessible at times during construction and to plan ahead by moving vehicles to adjacent streets before work commences Monday to Friday. On-street parking is not permitted during working hours on weekdays.
Please obey all traffic control personnel and signage when driving in the vicinity of the construction.
RESIDENT IMPACTS
Throughout the construction period, vibratory compaction equipment will be in use; therefore, any fragile items should be packaged or protected from damage due to vibration. There may also be noise disruption due to equipment on site. In order to perform utility works, there will be frequent water interruptions. Expect intermittent water shutdowns of three hours or less during this portion of the project. When possible we will inform residents daily of longer duration water shutdowns in excess of three hours. We recommend that residents store a quantity of water for use during the longer duration periods.
Garbage collection will not be affected.
HOURS OF WORK
Work will begin on June 13 and is expected to be complete in October. Construction is scheduled to occur Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–4:00 pm. Some evening or weekend work may be required.
