Please note that Interior Health should remain your primary source of information in the COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) outbreak. Please visit their website for the latest information.

The City of Kamloops recognizes that there is significant concern in the community around COVID-19. This page has been set up to provide local information to our community about COVID-19. We regularly update this page with any changes to our operations which may affect our residents.

The City is encouraging all residents and businesses to follow the direction of public health officials, including limiting public gatherings and practicing physical distancing. We have closed all City play structures and are monitoring social distancing at other City parks, courts and playgrounds. In addition the City has temporarily closed the McArthur Island ring road to vehicle traffic and has suspended the collection of parking and transit fees. Transit riders are asked to board from the rear of the bus and try to maintain two metres of distance wherever possible.

In an effort to protect residents and employees, and practice physical distancing, the City has moved to minimal services and has implemented work-from-home protocols wherever possible. Council meetings have resumed and are available online only. Statutory committee meetings are postponed until further notice.

The global management of the situation is evolving daily. We care about the public’s health and wellbeing, as well as the health and safety of our employees and are actively working with our Emergency Program Manager and Health and Safety Department.

We are following the recommendations of the Federal and Provincial Government agencies before any changes are made to our operations.
