Mayor's Task Force on Economic Recovery and Renewal Update
Tammy Robertson, the City's External Relations Manager, provided Council with a first quarter (Q1) 2021 update on actions undertaken in support of the Mayor’s Task Force on Economic Recovery and Renewal (MTF) recommendations. Key highlights from Q1 2021 include:
- marketing campaigns focused on supporting local
- creating the Tournament Capital Return to Sport program
- featuring the local hospitality industry and arts and culture organizations in promotions
- supporting start-up entrepreneurs working to capitalize on new opportunities
- preparing costs and estimates to design and construct the 4th Avenue plaza
- supporting rotating block closures for Victoria Street
- constructing patios in the North Shore and South Shore commercial areas
- implementing food hub funding to facilitate food hub processing facilities in the Kamloops region with key partners Garden Gate and TRU Culinary Arts
- co-hosting three procurement sessions for the local business community to create better awareness of procurement practices in June 2021
This is the third update to Council on MTF recommendations.
