Construction Starting on the Canada Games Aquatic Centre and Hillside Stadium

The Canada Games Aquatic Centre (CGAC) will begin its transformation this week as demolition gets underway on the roof and walls. With the unexpected closure of the Tournament Capital Centre (TCC) due to COVID-19, the City is able to get an early start on site setup and selective demolition. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year, with the pool ready to reopen on January 2, 2021.

The purpose of the project is to replace several critical infrastructure components of the facility that are near or past their expected design life, including the roof and walls of the pool building; the boilers; and the mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. The project will also include several components to improve the overall sustainability, accessibility, and functionality of the building, including LED lighting and more energy-efficient hot tubs, sauna, and steam room.

Warner Rentals Field at Hillside Stadium will also be receiving an update this spring. Starting on Tuesday, May 19, Hillside Stadium will be closed to replace the artificial turf. It is scheduled to reopen in late July.
